Venice'swaterbus routes change from time to time. This means that printed maps and guidebook descriptions ofvaporettolines, which are operated by the transit agency ACTV, are frequently out of date. Please notethat routes are subject to change and seasonal variation. When in doubt, checkthe timetables at the vaporetto stops.
If you've used public transportation in Venice previously, don't be surprised if some boat stations look unfamiliar. ACTV has builtseveral large stations in the last few years, and platforms have beenrenumbered or shifted around at major existing stations such as PiazzaleRoma, Ferrovia, and Rialto.Click here to download ACTVmaps and official timetables in PDF format. A vaporetto, the Venetian water bus or public ferry, arriving on the Grand Canal in Venice. The vaporetto (www.actv.it) is a public ferry service that operates, for all intents and purposes, as the bus network of Venice.
To find a vaporetto office or station in Venice, just look for a sign with the Actv logo: a disc that's green on the top half and blue on the bottom bisected by a white line that looks a bit like a heart monitor reading.
You can buy a biglietto (ticket) for the vaporetto either at the ticket kiosks by major vaporetto fermate (docks), or on board the boat (though make sure you seek out the conductor immediately to do so, or you may be assessed a hefty fine). 2ff7e9595c
